UK Could Auction 4G Licences Next Year
June 2006 | Company News AlertThe UK government is preparing to auction licences for the next generation of mobile internet technology as soon as next year, according to UK newspaper The Business. The paper cited a source from the national telecoms regulator Ofcom, which was quoted as saying that 'auctions are the best way of bringing spectrum to the market. Whoever wins the bidding has a vested interest in maximising value from the spectrum and that will encourage innovation and new services for consumers'.
