Telefonica Moviles Goes From Strength To Strength

Spanish telecoms operator Telefónica has recorded another strong performance at its mobile division Telefónica Moviles. The unit added more than 4mn new customers during the first quarter of 2006, taking its total subscriber base to 98.5mn, up 21% on the year. Revenues for the quarter grew by 17.7% to EUR4.327bn, while operating income was up by 8.3% to EUR855.6mn. This helped take Telefónica Moviles' net profits for the quarter to EUR447mn, an increase of 3.5% on Q1 2005.
