Auchan Adds Mobile Frequency to Shopping List

France's fifth largest supermarket chain Auchan has announced its intention of launching a full mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) on Vivendi's existing SFR network. The MVNO concept, where a company rents capacity from an existing operator and resells under its brand, is becoming increasingly popular in France, with Carphone Warehouse and Virgin the latest to launch such services. There are a total of nine MVNO players in France with the leaders in the market Neuf Cegetel, Coriolis Telecom and Tele2.
