OTE Plans to Consolidate Ownership of Mobile Operator Cosmote

Greek fixed-line incumbent OTE has signalled its intention to buy the 36% of shares in mobile arm Cosmote that it does not already own. However, the operator seems to be in no rush, saying only that it is examining the option as part of its 2006-2008 business plan. Such a move would follow the lead set by other European fixed-line operators, which have been consolidating their ownership of mobile interests, with a view to integrating them into the parent company. Telecom Italia has already announced its intention to integrate mobile business TIM, as have Deutsche Telkom and Telefonica in Hungary
