Ericsson Shows Its Smarts

Telecoms equipment vendor Ericsson has been selected by Elektrilevi, the Estonian electricity distribution network operator, for a smart metering contract that includes the deployment of 630,000 smart meters, as well as operating support systems. The contract is a significant success for Ericsson as it continues its push into machine-to-machine (M2M) communications. BMI believes Ericsson, as a leading provider of telecoms infrastructure and managed services, is well positioned to benefit from growth in M2M.
