July 2012 | Industry Trends And DevelopmentsCentral and Eastern Europe (CEE) has seen rapid development in terms of non-voice services in recent years, although it still trails behind the most developed regions. BMI calculates a weighted average share of non-voice revenue in ARPU of 27.5% at the end of March 2012 (latest operator data). This is a 2.6pps increase from 24.9% in Q111. Our calculation for Western Europe provides some context, where non-voice services accounted for 35.3% of ARPU in Q112, up 3.7pps y-o-y. However, in terms of value of non-voice services, CEE outperformed y-o-y to Q112 as non-voice ARPU increased EUR0.4 to EUR2.2. Meanwhile, Western European non-voice ARPU increased EUR0.3 y-o-y to EUR6.6 in Q112.
