Sprint Swapping iDEN For LTE

Sprint announced on June 12 that it has signed agreements with Goodman Networks, Overland Contracting, Pyramid Network Services and WesTower Communications to help decommission its legacy push-to-talk iDEN network, which could cease service as early as June 30 2013. By phasing out the old network, Sprint will gain valuable low frequency band spectrum that will be used for LTE services, thereby putting the operator on par with its larger rivals in terms of technology.
