MTN Records Strong Growth In 2011 But Political Risks In Key Markets Overshadow Outlook

Africa's biggest telecoms service provider by revenue and subscribers, MTN Group, reported impressive financial and operational results for the full-year 2011. Highlights of the company's result include consolidated revenue and EBITDA growth of 6.3% y-o-y and 15.2% y-o-y respectively, and a 16.2% y-o-y increase in its subscriber base. MTN's performance is in line with BMI's view of the company as a regional outperformer considering its market strategy and exposure to key growth markets.
