Despite Consultation On 700MHz, Auction Still A Long Way Off

UK telecom regulator Ofcom has begun a consultation over the future use of the 600MHz and 700MHz spectrum bands. These lower bands were made available following the switchover from analogue to digital television, and are in high demand from digital terrestrial television providers and mobile operators alike. However, the bands will not be available until 2018. Following delays in auctioning the 800MHz spectrum band, BMI believes the UK LTE development and launch will be a slow process.
