Crowded Market Hits Zoom's Profits

Nigerian CDMA operator Zoom Mobile is reportedly close to ceasing operations as mounting subscriber losses and a deep-reaching price war hit its profitability. Although new financial backers are being sought, BMI believes that the potency of competition in the CDMA and GSM sectors as well as mounting capital investment requirements leave Zoom with few options. Its Chinese infrastructure supplier partners may yet step in, but BMI believes that Zoom has now been left so far behind that it would struggle to survive in the long term.
