Cable Providers To Launch Integrated Wi-Fi Service
May 2012 | Company News AlertFive of the US' largest cable providers - Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cablevision, Brighthouse and Cox - announced they are to launch Wi-Fi hotspots to customers travelling outside their home network area, under the moniker CableWifi. The companies will open 50,000 hotspots in the country, and the technology will store users' credentials for automatic login. BMI believes this is a possible solution to the growing problem of congestion on the overcrowded networks of mobile operators. We expect to see collaboration with mobile operators, in order to ease traffic on 3G and 4G networks.
