At Mobile World Congress, the communications ministers of Mexico, Chile and Costa Rica met with Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent, Verizon, RIM, the World Bank and GSMA to discuss the future of the 700MHz spectrum band in the region. This particular band has received much interest given its suitability for LTE rollout. Good management of spectrum distribution is crucial to ensure efficient usage of the band, and will play a key role in the development and penetration of mobile over the long term.
