Brazil's Oi To Aid ETB Expansion

Following the announcement on October 25 that Bogotá's public telecoms company was considering a merger with Cali's EmCali and Medellín's UNE-EPM, the firm has also signed an MoU with Tele Norte Leste (Oi), in a bid to drive expansion. ETB, which has had its share of financial troubles in 2011, hopes to reach an agreement with the Brazilian company to avoid selling a stake. BMI believes Oi could provide assistance to the company, which has been seeking a strategic partner since 2009.
