APG Submarine Cable: An Indication Of Growing Data Demand

Japan's NEC Corporation announced on December 20 that it was awarded a multi-million dollar supply contract by a consortium of 14 telecoms operators to build the 10,400km Asia Pacific Gateway (APG) system. Despite having a plentiful number of submarine cables in Asia Pacific, the addition of another high-bandwidth optical system is a clear reflection of the rapidly growing consumer and business demand for data in the region.
