Broadband Subscriber Target Difficult To Achieve Under Current Conditions

China's Beijing Xinwei Telecom Technology Company signed an agreement with Myanmar Link Global Company in early November, which will see the former's wireless technology expand its broadband service coverage that is currently only available in Myanmar's three main cities - Naypyidaw, Yangon and Mandalay. Although this gives the Chinese firm a competitive advantage in one of Asia's last frontier markets, we doubt that there is significant return on investment in Myanmar, where the military is expected to retain broad authority in the near term.
