Dutch Competition Authority Investigates Alleged Mobile Cartel Practices

The Netherlands Competition Authority (NMA) visited the offices of the country's three leading mobile operators on December 6 2011 to investigate alleged cartel practices. The Financial Times reports that one specific issue the NMA was interested in was the pricing of mobile internet packages for customers on prepaid tariffs. The investigation comes at a difficult time for operators as they face declining voice and SMS revenues, and are increasingly reliant on data revenues to maintain financial performance.
