Telenor Connexion Targets Smart Meters For Growth

Telenor Connexion, the dedicated M2M division of Norwegian mobile operator Telenor, has announced it is targeting Norway's smart meter sector as a growth market. The news follows the government's announcement in July 2011 that all Norwegian households must be equipped with smart electricity meters by January 1 2017. BMI expects smart metering to be high growth area in the machine-to-machine (M2M) segment across Europe. In Norway we believe Telenor Connexion will be able to use its technical knowledge and scale to benefit from the market's growth. However, there are also opportunities for smaller players across the smart meter value chain.
