Ono Considers TeleCable Acquisition

Ono, Spain's largest alternative fixed telecoms and TV provider, is considering acquiring regional cable operator TeleCable. Cajastur savings bank, the current owner with a 91.8% stake, is reported to be looking to close the deal by the end of September 2011. BMI believes the acquisition to be of value to Ono because TeleCable's LTE licences that improve the competitive position of Ono's mobile broadband service and strengthen its business.
