Telefónica Reorganises To Focus On Digital Services Future

Telefónica has announced the creation of a digital services unit which will focus on growth areas such as e-health, cloud and M2M services. The unit will be called Telefónica Digital and will have 2,500 employees in London. The London centre will coordinate regional offices in Madrid, São Paulo, Silicon Valley and an Asian hub. BMI welcomes Telefónica's renewed focus on market segments that we expect to be high growth areas. As a large international operator, Telefónica has significant potential to exploit this growth; however, in the past two years it has fallen behind rivals in e-health and M2M, something the restructuring should help to address.
