Ericsson To Acquire Connexion

Swedish equipment vendor Ericsson has agreed a strategic deal to acquire Norwegian operator Telenor Connexion's M2M (machine-to-machine) technology platform. The deal comes after Ericsson recently identified global M2M communication as a long-term strategic focus through its vision of 50bn connected machines globally by 2020 and the launch of it's Device Connection Platform in February 2011. BMI considers M2M to be an area with considerable potential for revenue growth, and believes the acquisition will benefit both parties.
