All Three Networks To Deploy HSPA+

In December 2009 Cell C announced that it would upgrade its network to HSPA+ technology as part of its 2010 ZAR5bn (US$659.98mn) network investment programme. Soon afterwards, Vodacom made a similar announcement, saying that it would have an HSPA+ service available in key areas in time for the 2010 World Cup. Now MTN has followed suit, with a pledge deploy HSPA+. All this is good news for South African 3G users, who stand to see an improvement in levels of service, but BMI does not expect it to have an enormous impact on the market.
