Kenya Approves Konza Technology Park But The Journey Ahead Is Long

Kenya's vision to be an ICT hub in East Africa received a major boost in February 2011 as the parliamentary accounts committee endorsed the proposal to set up a technology park at Konza, in Machakos District. The centre was proposed in 2010 to be a key driver for the achievement of Vision 2030, an economic development plan by the Kenyan government. BMI welcomes the initiative and KES1bn (US$12.2mn) has already been allocated, but cautions that the scale of the project may be too ambitious.
