The Auction That Won't Raise A Fortune

Ofcom has announced its plans for the auction of 4G mobile spectrum, due to take place in the first quarter of 2012. The regulator has stated that it will impose caps on the amount of spectrum any one bidder can acquire. BMI welcomes the cap on spectrum acquisition as it will maintain the level of competition in mobile and mobile broadband services. However, given the likely low value of the bids, we believe Ofcom may better serve the consumer with aggressive network build requirements.
